Why do we stop playing?

Why do we stop playing?

When do we stop playing?
And more importantly - WHY?

And why don’t we mix more #business with pleasure?

My four year old makes me embark on things I would ordinarily say ‘nah…not for me….too (insert habitual response here)’. He pushes me out of my comfort zone and I am ALWAYS the better for it.

Today we went to a trampoline park. And during our #playtime it occurred to me that I was #energised, #joyful and fully present. All the things I often achingly strive for in “adult” life.

More importantly, I began to notice all the business skills that I was flexing with a simple act.

  • #negotiation — working out what games we’d play and how

  • #courage — I’m the ONLY woman in my 40’s bouncing amongst pubescent smirks

  • #communication— we were playing dodgeball with younger children, clarity needed

  • #decisionmaking — as to how and where to bounce so you don’t break a limb

  • #vulnerability -- This one is for all the mums who'll understand what bouncing can do

  • #problemsolving -- How do I get through certain obstacle courses, small openings and such with a tad of elegance?

I spent the day with a relaxed clarity and could see several ways how trampolining could be used for solving a range of business problems -- #experientially

The world is becoming hybrid. Why can't we mash #business and #play. Seems they have so much to offer each other........

When was the last time you wholeheartedly played?? Try it. You might be surprised at what it can do for your career.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live, work and play, the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I pay my respects to their ancestors past and present.
